GARDEN PRODUCE SUPERBLY TRANSFORMS SIMPLE EASTER MEAL

Nature sure has ways of rewarding diligence in tending a garden. I had been waiting for two snake tomato fruits - Trichosanthes curcuma  to ripen for so very many days but their green colour refused to change.

But this Sunday April 5 - Easter Sunday I was able to harvest two that had ripen. It superbly transformed the simple rice sauce made with dry pepper and dry fish into healthy delicious goodness.

The garden veg leaves - bitter leaves, ugwu iyana ipaja i.e. tree spinach (Jatropha tajorensis)  and those small leaves we call curry leaves buttress the nice taste.

I also made soft drink from mixture of mango leaves, lemon  grass, blood leaves, a bit of mint leaves, guava leaves and leaves of African cherry tree seedlings.
The taste of the mango leaves in the drink reduced the need for sweetener, a reason I didn't use pawpaw leaves which is bitter and would need much more sweetening.

You may sweeten with sweet fruits such as sweet orange or pineapple if available, honey or date syrup. I improved the taste with lemon - it tasted somewhat exotic

The drink.can also help cleanse the body system. So, whatever you ate or drank this Easter, making and taking such drink from organic-grown plants can be some sort of direly needed natural detox that is not bitter.

The power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead dwells in  the spirits of His believers. That life-giving quality also in crops that germinate and grow naturally without artificial growth boosters. Such foods are what really nourish the body appropriately. So I tried to simulate that this Easter.
