To avoid deaths from snake bites or from other animals with venoms, let's explore emergency stop-gap measures that can be taken.
The need for these measures stem from the fact that the longer the waiting and movements, the higher chances of the toxins from the animal spreading in the affected person's body.
Usually when individuals or households have packaged-bought antidote or remedy for such emergencies in a First- Aid kit or box, due to irregularity of use, when urgently needed, the packaged antidote may have expired or no longer as effective , if at all it was.
There may also be delay in getting treated or getting to hospital or health-care facility.
If such an incident occurs to oneself or to loved one(s), do not panic- know that you can beat it. Praying is of course good as there may arise issues beyond human control.
IMMEDIATE STOP-GAP HEALTH MEASURES
Apart from having a well-provisioned First Aid box or kit, there are some natural safe remedies to have at home, even in other places frequented
🤙Seeds from organic-grown fruits (preferably indigenous plants or plants not yet messed up) such as seeds of pawpaw, native chilli pepper, snake tomato (Trichosanthes cucumerina). It is commonly known as the snake gourd, and in Nigeria, it is referred to as "elejo tomato" or "tomati elejo".
🤙Try to grow some plants. Even if land is not available, you can use pots, buckets, sacks or drums. If you grow tree crops, they may not grow to fruiting stage in small containers but you can harvest the leaves for natural remedies. Whether or not there are emergencies, you can use these to make herbal teas or drinks and take regularly to boost natural immunity.
IN CASE OF SNAKE OR OTHER ANIMAL BITE EMERGENCIES
🤙Move quickly away from the animal. You may have available pepper powder to spray in case of more attacks from the animal.
🤙Limit the spread of the venom or toxin at the bite point. If it is possible, you can first tie cloth or rope above and below the bite point especially if it is at the limbs. If not possible to tie the spot or it would take too long, then swab out the toxins. Try to press the venom out like pressing out puss from a pimple or boil but dont use bare hands. Get freshly-plucked leaves to remove that. If not readily available, wear gloves or cover hand(s) with nylon or cloth to reward the toxins.
Some of the toxins may still spread though the body but it should be far much less if you are able to press out, the toxins effectively.
🤙Pluck fresh edible leaves, chew and swallow.
🤙If you have seeds from organic grown fruits, take few of the seeds, chew and swallow.
🤙Having minimised, soaked or nullified the toxic effects, you may go to the hospital or to qualified health care professional for treatment.
🤙Take along water, edible leaves, seeds, activated charcoal. If you feel a surge, drink the water and/or chew or shed and swallow the leaves.
🤙With considerable quality of freshly-plucked organic-grown edible leaves in your system, toxins or venom ahould not overpower the life-giving force of nutrients in the leaves being supplied to your cells. This is because if your cells are receiving life from the leaves and/or seeds, the deadening quality in the venom cannot overpower your body cells.
🤙What applies to toxins in food is somewhat similar to what applies to toxins in the venom from snake bite – just that snake bite is more serious because the toxins go direct into the bloodstream while food first undergoes digestion before the toxins are unleashed and absorbed by the blood. Hence reason with snake bite, you need to take the necessary measures as quickly as possible.
Rather than do nothing if there is delay in getting to hospital or delay in getting treatment, take these stop-gap measures.
You may feel discomfort but taking consiserable amount of pure leaves and/or seeds will weaken the effects of toxins.
The advantage of seeds is that you can keep seeds inside the home so you may not need to go outside to pluck leaves if such an incident happens during the night or the garden is a considerable distanxe - remember to limit movements so the toxins won't spread fast in your bloodstream.
Just ensure the seeds are well dried. Keep in a iry place in a container preferably a sieve cloth so they would be well aerated.
Leaves and seeds are very safe because they are food substances. Just pray very well that thete won’t be mistakes in the medical treatment you receive subsequently.
Also taking drinks made from pawpaw leaves, lemon grass can also help bring some relief.
🤙Activated Charcoal - since snake bite venom goes straight into the blood and activated charcoal ingessted does not get absorbed by the blood, it won't really be effective as a remedy or antidote for snake bite venom.
But if activated charcoal is ingested at such a time, what it can do is that if there are toxics or toxicants in food or drink the affected person recently had (which is possible these modern times as most processed and even some fresh foodstuffs have from chemical fertiizers, pesticides), activated charcoal would adsorb some if not all the toxic substances in the food or drink before elements in the food or drink are absorbed by the blood.
So this should reduce the toxic load in the blood which is very vital at such a time a person is experiencing the effect of snake bite venom in the bloodstream.
So while taking activated charcoal at such a time is still in order and can be an indirect stop-gap measure, it is not a direct antidote for snake bite venom.
If there is delay in medical treatment., rather than do nothing, organic- grown leaves and chewable seeds of organic-grown edible fruits can be stop-gap measures to reduce, even nullify toxic effects of the snake-bite venom
