MANY WAYS PLASTIC ENTER OUR BODY SYSTEMS

..,disrupts hormones, causing  health  problems

...cleansing body of plastic contamination

PLASTIC ENTRY
Almost on daily basis, micro-plastics, nano-plastics, Bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates are entering into the bodies of people especially those living in hot climates
How? Some of the ways include but not limited to:

1. Drinks – water, soft drinks, ice creams sold in satchets and bottles. People usually buy ice cold ones - very chilled. But before they are refrigerated, in many shops and storage places, the heat from the direct rays of the sun or in the place they are kept or even during transportation touch the plastics. This causes some chemical substance(s) the plastic is made with to seep into to the drink inside. But before people drink them, they are usually refrigerated. So, the drink may be very cold but it may be very chilled slow poison. Since lots of people take such drinks in plastic containers  on regular basis, you can imagine the level of plastics that can get into a person’s bloodstream. That is apart from the possibility of substances that are health hazardous that some commercially-produced drinks are made with.  Until about two decades ago in Nigeria, soft drinks were sold in  glass bottles. But the bottles have to be returned after taking liquid content or empty glass bottles were exchanged for the bottled drinks. This was no doubt inconveniencing and humans are always  seeking convenience, which is okay.  It is just that people tend not to give serious consideration to the health implications of what is convenient.

2. Bathing water from plastic drums, tanks, pipes under the sun – the human body has pores through which  elements or compounds in water  constantly poured on the skin can enter the bloodstream.

3. Plastic sponges  used for bathing.

4. Blender – After some period of constantly using a blender, the heat being generated may gradually cause leaching of plastic into the food or drink.

5. Packaged or take-away foods are usually put in plastics

6. By now, many people should know they ought not put food to be micro-waved in plastic but some still do if the food is already in a plastic container. Even some care-givers put plastic baby feeding bottles in warm or hot water to  make the baby food warm.

7. When people go to  grind certain food items at a public grinding mill, they usually collect the grinded item with the heat generated in a plastic container, sometimes polythene bags called nylon. To reduce leached plastic, don’t cover or seal or use a non-plastic, more durable container

8. Solid or liquid food kept in plastic container in enclosed places even refrigerators  with constant prolonged power outages. For instance, corn or guinea-corn pap kept in a covered plastic would generate heat if no refrigeration. Even if kept in the refrigerator and there are power outages for days,  the refrigerator loses the coolness. This would generate  heat which can leach some of the plastic elements into the pap. When electricity is restored and it becomes cool again, the pap would likely have been contaminated with plastic elements or compounds. It should be better to use a porcelain(not in a freezer) to put the pap in the refrigerator. It may also be better to remove the cover when no coolness in the refrigerator or keep the pap out of a refrigerator, leave uncovered and change the water on the surface regularly.

THE HEALTH IMPLICATIONS OF PLASTICS
Being conscious can  reduce the quantity of plastics unknowingly leached into our body systems. Practices on this concerning infants should of course be stopped.  We may not be totally able to stop plastics from getting into our systems as adults.
Leached plastic in the body system disrupts the hormones. For instance, they may cause fertility related issues- not just difficulty in conceiving and birthing children but myriad of health problems for both male and female that may seem  unexplainable.

Currently, there are not enough researches to prove that plastic loads in the body cause cancers, renal or hepatic problems. But  plastics are no doubt impurities in the body. When they get into the body, they are very harmful to health, particularly to the blood.

A healthy liver expectedly separates  the plastic to the kidneys for expulsion. But this is stressful to the liver and even more so to the kidney(s) – these plastic substances were never meant to enter the body at all and their exit from the body may be slow or take time.

SOLUTION
A plastic detox would be necessary as presence of the plastic elements or compounds in the blood can cause problems ranging from diabetes to High Blood Pressure to  body aches. If the plastic loads is much, it obstructs blood flow and can also cause a stroke or even cardiac issues.

You can use food – edibles to do plastic detox regularly.

1. Most of the edible seeds e.g.   chia seeds help in plastic detox. Seeds from truly organic plants are very effective.

2.Edible chelators like tamarind also help in plastic detox.

To treat serious cases of plastic contamination,  do consult with a professional health care provider.  If there is delay in getting the healthcare, taking
- truly clean water,
- chewing edible organic-grown edible leaves, - - taking pure natural honey - and/or truly natural oil like coconut oil can bring some relief or alleviate the pain.
