Recently I read the story of a 12year old British girl described as ‘Bionic’.
She doesn’t feel physical pain when injured, does not feel hungry and can get by with just two hours of sleep daily.
Her mother in that story I read recounted how the girl was over-run by a vehicle such that she was under the moving vehicle for some minutes.
Her mother was screaming, thinking her daughter would be badly injured.
But when the vehicle stopped, the girl just got out from underneath the vehicle, walking steadily on her feet as though nothing happened- a situation that would have landed most persons in the emergency ward of a hospital as an accident victim critically between life and death.
But medical experts have said the girl has developmental problems – I think they said she has one chromosome short of the normal 46.
Since she doesn’t feel hunger, her mother has to ensure the girl is made to eat regularly. The girl also has to be monitored so that something terrible physically wouldn’t happen to her - she wouldn’t know as she doesn’t feel pains.
She doesn’t fall sick, I wonder why it is seen as a problem.
Another reason they see the condition as something not good is that she usually has uncontrollable emotional outbursts.
Well, not sleeping long enough can make one cranky or grumpy. So I think they should find safe ways to get her to sleep for at least 6 hours, if possible 8 hours daily.
She should be taught emotional control. She should also be made to follow time schedules to eat daily even if she doesn’t feel hungry.
Apart from those challenges of not sleeping long and not feeling hungry which can be addressed, I can’t help thinking she is truly healthy.
I have had somewhat similar experiences at certain times of not feeling pain when physically hurt -one of such - I was hit hard by a motorcycle while riding as passenger on another motorbike- okada.
The rider coming with speed did not observe the right hand drive but moved to the left where I was riding, turned a little away as he reached the okada I was riding on so as not to hit the fellow commercial rider and then turned back and hit me with force.
There were some pedestrians on the road and roadside traders. I heard people screaming as I was hit on my wrist/back of my right hand.
The impact of the hit made the commercial rider whose bike I was on lose control and the bike fell on the other side.
As the bike landed on the ground, I immediately got up while the rider struggled up to get up.
The rider who hit me rode away but didn’t go too far likely to watch the outcome of his dare-devil act.
When the rider of the bike I was on got up, he asked if I was okay. People on the roadside who had been screaming were then watching with dismay.
The rider ran after the wicked crook-rider, asking why he hit me and made him return to the point he hit me.
I also asked why he hit me. He was just muttering some silly things in response.
I noticed that the bag I had slung on my right shoulder had torn widely. The bag was almost empty then because I was going for shopping. But it was a very strong and durable bag.
As I left the scene, I noticed some people on the roadside were staring at me and whispering to each other.
I still went ahead to the market to do the needful shopping but had to buy another bag.
I carried the items home. There were some scratches at the back of my hand but I didn't really feel pains.
The following day, at home, I was carrying a bucket of water on the hand that was hit but not feeling pain. When I remembered the previous day accident or should I say attack, I decided to take some photos of myself as reminder. Of course I gave the glory to God for His protection / deliverance.
Another time after reading that pawpaw trees can perform better if bent, I decided to bend the one I was growing in a drum.
It was so tall such that plucking the leaves wasn’t within reach. Also, when it starts fruiting hopefully, it wouldn’t be easy to pluck the fruits at such height.
I decided to see if I could bend the tree by myself – I wasn’t sure I could but just wanted to see how much I could do.
So I tied cord somewhere at the middle of the tree and started pulling on the cord with my hands.
Within some minutes, not only did the tree bend, it broke due to the force I was exerting on it. Fortunately, after some weeks, it started sprouting new leaves.
I didn’t feel pains even though I had exerted so much force. It was many weeks later I was chatting with a friend and was using my hands to describe something when she noticed and pointed out that my fingers especially the small fingers on both hands were bent.
She then suggested how I could straighten them as she also had bent finger as a child after an injury.
My mind went back, trying to recollect when it happened since I have also been using my hands in other rigorous activities.
I then remembered it was the day I bent the pawpaw tree but as I didn’t feel pains, I glossed over it.
There have been other times when I have had so much burst of energy and have experience similar to that Bionic.
It is usually after detoxification with herbs or I have been able to stay off unhealthy foods and taken truly healthy foods for some days.
It is no longer news that most of the foods and drinks sold in our markets have some level of toxicity. It will be another long story if I share full details of how the bright red, very fresh-looking and luscious tomatoes I bought in rhe market and used in cooking rice over the weekend almost sent me to the sick bay.
Once I start feeling serious body discomforts, I don’t panic. I would investigate on the cause(s) and get out the toxins out of my body system – but the feeling of having toxins in one system is not good o – it makes one feel terrible.
The discomforts will reduce as more and more of the toxins leave the body but it’s not easy doung regular activities at such times - I am still able to do some regular activities because I understand what is happening in my body.
All these have got me thinking on what it means to be truly healthy – i.e. constantly strong and energetic. Being healthy also involves looking good- you can’t make people believe you are healthy looking emaciated or fatigued – so adequate rest also important.
My exploration into being naturally healthy started about eight years ago when I was feeling sickly regularly.
It was getting to the point I was thinking of informing my immediate family that I was feeling so very sickly.
But as a person of faith who has experienced supernatural healing at certain times, I decided to first pray. I had actually been praying, meditating, making confessions that I was healed.
The feelings of sickness would stop but after some days or sometimes weeks would return.
So that prayer about 7 or 8 years ago was to know what to do – its okay to seek medical or healthcare attention. I just wanted to know the next steps and I know God is omniscient.
After the prayer, I just knew that I had to do away with some things – I started doing some findings and realised a lot of processed foods and drinks have toxic elements in them.
The quantity of the toxins in each food or drink may be almost insignificant but they build up over time in the body and start causing discomforts – pains or even diseases.
Then after Year 2020/2021, I started doing some findings. I have been observing that even lots of fresh foodstuffs commercially-grown in our country also have toxic elements due to use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and other growth boosters.
Also, most commercially-produced livestock are given growth boosters that can affect the health of the human consumers.
I have an educational background in agriculture and I also worked for over a decade as an agricultural journalist. I have also delved into agricultural information services which led to intense personal studies on how food impacts on health.
So I have known for quite long of these practices in food production. But in recent times, the need to meet increasing food demands by many commercial producers and merchants over the years, is also increasing the use and quantities of chemical growth boosters or use of harmful inorganic elements in agricultural food production, processing and preservation.
In fact whatever is used in and on the body including medications, body care products and even environmental pollution affects the body’s functioning. So I have had to start studying on those as well.
While it is okay, even good to get treated when sickly, being regularly sick or needing drugs to stay healthy is not normal. The constant feelings of real, natural good health is very glorious and human beings created by God deserve this.
Apart from diseases, there are some body weaknesses and loss of functions that people erroneously assume are just the results of aging – weakening eye vision, reducing physical strength or stamina, pains in the joint or arthritis, weakening memory, shaky hands, wrinkles, greying hair etc
Those are not actually signs of aging but signs that the quantities of harmful elements that distort normal body functions have increased in our body systems over time – pending the time there is very firm global stance on safe - natural ways to produce what is used in and on the body and anything that affects the body, we need individually, as families, as groups, as communities, as states, as a country to find ways to be naturally strong and truly healthy.
Detoxifying with naturally grown and edible (food and drink) that won’t also deposit traces of toxic or inorganic elements in our body is one of the vital ways.
Being healthy is not only physical though, it entails spiritual, mental and emotional well-being.
But physical health is so very important – people who are truly healthy physically are usually less grumpy – they take on needful tasks to accomplish what they want with zeal.
This weekend I really understood that physical health is also very important to spirituality. When my body was feeling weak after intake of the suspicious tomatoes, praying verbally and singing which I so much enjoy doing regularly wasn’t so easy.
Let’s take stand for good health by taking strong stand against what affects our bodies that make us sickly
